1st Doctor's Appointment

Today was a big day. I got poked and prodded for an actual purpose. Hubby and I saw our baby. It was really cool. We saw the little flutter flutter of the heart and heard the heartbeat. It sounds like a real heartbeat. Boom boom boom boom boom. Not squishy squishy squishy squishy. We saw her/his head and yolk sac too. In case you were wondering, the yolk sac gives the baby nutrients until the placenta forms. Yes, I know, TMI, TMI.

Anyway, I gave what I felt was half of the blood in my body, as well as other fluids and such. I didn't get to ask all the questions I wanted to. Now I'm prepared for next time as the actual "course of events." We went home with half as much stuff as we came with, which I consider parting gifts. You give me $25 and I'll give you a bag of crap! :)

The doctor's office even made me fill out a card for some sort of contest. They were all persistant that I filled it out. I thought that was weird but hey, doesn't hurt! Maybe next time I'll have one try at the slot machine located behind the receptionist's desk. ("And we have a winner! Free formula for one year! WOO HOO!")

We have pictures. Our first little sonogram pictures to traditionally put up on the refrigerator. What an American couple we are. Husband, wife, dog and baby. A Labrador dog at that. All in one tiny house. I think we should pose in a catalog. Wait, my teeth aren't white enough yet. Come back to me in 6-8 weeks.

Anyway, I got naked way too many times in about 1 hour. The nurse told me a few times "You're going to have to undress from the waist down." After the second go around, the song "The Stripper" was playing in my head. Might as well, since I had an audience. Thought I'd swing my hips around to lighten the mood.

The whole event was really surreal. NOW it's for real. How long have I been saying that? Am I still trying to convince MYSELF? That's a possibility.
